Pete Hines, a key executive at Bethesda Softworks, has announced his retirement from the company after nearly 25 years. Bethesda made the announcement on social media, expressing gratitude for Hines’ contributions and highlighting the values he upheld during his tenure. Hines also posted his own statement on his personal Twitter account, confirming his decision and expressing excitement for the new chapter in his life. Hines played a significant role in the company, serving as the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications before being promoted to Head of Global Publishing last year.

Throughout his career, Hines often spoke on behalf of Bethesda, addressing concerns and providing reassurance to players. His departure comes shortly after the successful release of Starfield, the studio’s first new intellectual property in 25 years. The game achieved great success, amassing 10 million players within three weeks of its launch. Hines was a prominent figure in the gaming industry, alongside Todd Howard, and played a crucial role in the development and marketing of popular franchises like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series.

In his retirement, Hines plans to explore new interests, dedicate time to charitable endeavors, and relish in life’s pleasures. His departure marks the end of an era for Bethesda Softworks, as the company bids farewell to a valued executive who left an indelible mark on the studio’s success and public image.
