A 22-year-old man named Areion Hickman was found shot and killed in southwest Louisville on Sunday morning, according to the Jefferson County coroner. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. when officers from the Third Division of the Louisville Metro Police Department responded to a report of a person down in the 5700 block of Johnsontown Road, between Valley Station and Pleasure Ridge Park. Upon arrival, they discovered Hickman under an overpass, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services pronounced him dead at the scene.

The LMPD Homicide Unit is currently leading the investigation into the shooting. Detectives are working to gather information and are conducting a canvass of the area, but no suspects have been identified at this time.
