An Amazon delivery driver in Alabama shot a dog while attempting a delivery, claiming self-defense after the dog emerged from beneath a porch and charged at him. The owner of the dog disputes this, stating that she did not expect a package and had two dogs that were peacefully sitting on the porch when the shooting occurred. The dog, Solar, was injured and the family has hired an attorney to investigate the incident.

The controversy surrounding the incident arose when the delivery driver shot Solar while making a delivery in Alabama. Hueytown police responded to a report of a dog that had been shot, and found that the driver had fired a single shot in an attempt to defend himself. However, the owner of the dog, Rose Kirk, disputes the self-defense claim, stating that her dogs were peacefully lying on the porch and she had not ordered a package. An online fundraiser has been set up to help with the dog’s medical expenses, and the Kirk family has hired an attorney to look into the matter.

The Amazon delivery driver is no longer employed by the company, and Amazon stated that it’s against their policies for employees to carry weapons during deliveries. However, they are allowed to carry dog deterrent devices as long as it complies with state and local laws. The incident has raised questions about the use of force and self-defense, as well as the responsibilities of delivery drivers and companies to ensure the safety of pets and their owners during deliveries.
