Google has announced several changes to its executive team in charge of Google Search. Liz Reid will now be the Head of Search, while Cheenu Venkatachary will lead the Search quality and ranking teams. Meanwhile, Pandu Nayak will step down as lead of search quality and ranking to become the Chief Scientist of Search, and Cathy Edwards will be joining the Long-term Bets team in Knowledge and Information.

Liz Reid, a long-time leader at Google with expertise in product and technical knowledge, will now oversee the Search organization. With a background in pioneering Google Maps and Local Search, Reid’s new role reflects Google’s focus on advancing search quality and functionality. Venkatachary will take over the role of leading the Search quality and ranking teams, while Nayak, a prominent figure in algorithms and information systems, will transition to the position of Chief Scientist, Search.
