The recovery efforts at the site of the Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore resulted in the retrieval of a fourth body from a submerged vehicle. This victim, whose identity remains undisclosed at the family’s request, was one of the construction workers who were thrown into the river when a cargo ship collided with the bridge. While two workers were rescued and four bodies have been recovered, two remain missing and presumed dead.

Amid the salvage operation to clear the debris from the collapse site, a massive floating crane, the Chesapeake 1,000, was utilized to lift pieces of the Key Bridge for disposal. Labeled as the largest floating crane on the eastern seaboard, this impressive machinery is aiding in the removal of tons of steel and other materials from the river. The salvage efforts are being carried out with the objective of recycling the steel while also ensuring minimal interference with ongoing investigations by authorities.

Divers involved in the recovery operation continue to face challenges due to the hazardous conditions in the murky waters of the Patapsco River. With visibility often limited to zero, divers navigate through debris, rebar, and concrete to locate victims and assist in the recovery process. As Baltimore mourns the lives lost and works towards completing the recovery operation, efforts to seek legal recourse against parties responsible for the bridge collapse are underway to protect the interests of the city and its residents.
