An internal whistleblower complaint concerning Trump Media has called for the removal of CEO Devin Nunes, alleging significant mismanagement and exposing the company to the risk of legal action from regulators, according to a document reviewed by ProPublica. The letter criticizes the company’s hiring practices, asserting that Nunes directed the hiring of foreign contractors over American workers, which contradicts the company’s stated “America First” principles.
The complaint further accuses Nunes, a former Republican congressman, of employing unqualified individuals from his inner circle and being dishonest with company employees, implicating his leadership in the social media platform Truth Social. ProPublica previously reported that multiple executives and staff members were forced out in what some believed to be retaliation following a whistleblower complaint, with several sources indicating concerns about Nunes’ management style.
Although the letter reviewed by ProPublica was unsigned by any specific employee, it claims to reflect the views of over half of the staff, including multiple department heads and C-level officers. The document, which was addressed to the audit committee of the board and submitted through the company’s anonymous whistleblower channel, is said to be circulating among connected individuals.
Trump Media declined to provide detailed comments regarding the complaint, suggesting in a lawyer’s letter that ProPublica’s article was unreliable and part of a series of unfavorable portrayals of the company. Nunes and Trump’s campaign did not respond to queries. Meanwhile, Trump Media’s stock has seen a significant increase, boosting the company’s market value, with Trump’s majority ownership stake now exceeding $3 billion. Company board members include Don Jr., Robert Lighthizer, and Linda McMahon.
After ProPublica’s reporting, Trump Media lawyer Jason Greaves demanded an immediate retraction, labeling the article as “false and defamatory” without providing evidence of inaccuracies. Following the complaint, the company hired an external lawyer to investigate the issues raised. The whistleblower letter highlights alleged management issues and emphasizes the potential for these internal problems to become public, warning of possible reputational damage and legal concerns for Trump Media.
