In the current digital landscape, short-form videos have become a popular method for discovering new songs and artists through applications such as TikTok and Instagram. Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to add songs from posts and Reels directly to their Spotify library, according to a report by 9to5Mac. When a song is used in an Instagram post and is displayed at the bottom of the screen, users can tap on the song’s name to access its audio preview page. A new button labeled “Add,” accompanied by the Spotify logo, is available next to the audio scrubber on this page.
By selecting the “Add” button, the song will be added to the user’s “Liked Songs” within their Spotify library. Users will need to link their Spotify account with Instagram the first time they use this feature, but it will become a simple one-tap action subsequently. This integration is being rolled out globally to all users. Previously, in August, mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi identified another potential integration in development between Instagram and Spotify, which would enable users to continuously share the music they are listening to as notes visible on their profile picture.
TikTok has offered a similar feature since last year, allowing users to add songs heard in videos to their music libraries. TikTok’s feature supports integration not only with Spotify but also with Apple Music and Amazon Music.
