Samsung is known for its commitment to providing firmware updates and support for its Android devices, and it continues to lead the way in this area. While other Android OEMs may struggle to keep up, Samsung’s OS update policies are ahead of the curve. In fact, not even Google, the creator of the Android operating system, offers the same level of support for its own devices. There are even rumors that Google is planning to offer seven years of updates for its Pixel 8, but Samsung remains at the forefront.
Recently, Samsung announced the release of two new Android tablets under its Fan Edition sub-brand: the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+. While these tablets may not be flagship models, they do borrow some characteristics from the Tab S9 flagship devices. Samsung has assured customers that these tablets are “designed to last” with four major OS upgrades and five years of security patches. This means that they will eventually be updated to Android 17 and will receive the same level of support as the flagship Tab S9 series.
If you’re considering purchasing one of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE models, they will be available for $449 / €529 and will be released in select markets on October 10th. Samsung’s commitment to providing frequent firmware updates and support sets it apart from other Android OEMs and ensures that its devices will remain up-to-date and secure for years to come.
