CocoCay provides a classic private island experience typical of cruise ship destinations, offering a tranquil beach day, drinks, and a barbecue lunch for passengers seeking relaxation. Unlike many other cruise line private islands, it features a dock, eliminating the need for passengers to be tendered to the island.
Beyond the traditional private island offerings, Perfect Day includes several unique amenities. It boasts the largest pool in the Caribbean, available to all visitors, setting it apart from the private islands of Carnival, MSC, and Norwegian, which do not provide a free pool.
Guests at Perfect Day at CocoCay can choose to pay additional fees for various attractions, including a water park, a private beach club with an enhanced dining experience, and Hideaway Beach, an adults-only area featuring a heated pool and exclusive menu items.
The island’s dock can accommodate two ships daily. While Royal Caribbean heavily utilizes this, the inclusion of Celebrity Cruises has led to a demand that exceeds capacity—a situation the cruise line intends to address.
Royal Caribbean has ambitious plans to expand its private destination offerings with the introduction of what it terms Beach Clubs. These will be fee-based private beach club experiences, drawing inspiration from Perfect Day at CocoCay, designed as part-day experiences allowing passengers to explore other local attractions in Cozumel and Nassau.
In a recent announcement, Royal Caribbean shared plans for a second Perfect Day location in Mexico. Jason Liberty, CEO of Royal Caribbean International, discussed these plans during the cruise line’s third-quarter earnings call. He expressed excitement about Perfect Day Mexico, highlighting its combination of thrilling activities and relaxation, set against Mexico’s vibrant backdrop.
Liberty outlined the strategic significance of Perfect Day Mexico, positioned to provide exceptional vacation experiences in both the Eastern and Western Caribbean, with the aim that all Royal Caribbean guests enjoy a Perfect Day on their Caribbean journeys. The new location will also cater to passengers departing from Galveston, Texas, helping to expand the Gulf Coast market.
The completion of Perfect Day Mexico is projected for 2027. It will join Royal Caribbean’s portfolio of private destinations, including Perfect Day at CocoCay, Labadee, Royal Beach Club Paradise Island (opening in 2025), and Royal Beach Club in Cozumel (opening in 2026).
