Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Diablo 4 will be coming to Steam on October 17, making it the second game from the publisher to be released on Valve’s digital storefront after Overwatch 2. The Steam listing for Diablo 4 is now available for wishlisting. The launch on Steam will coincide with the start of the game’s new season, the Season of Blood, which will focus on Vampiric Powers and introduce a new quest line and five additional endgame bosses.
The Steam version of Diablo 4 will support cross-progression and cross-platform play with the game’s existing versions on Battle.net, PlayStation, and Xbox. However, a Battle.net account will still be required to play the Steam version. Blizzard has also mentioned that Diablo 4 will be playable on Valve’s Steam Deck, although the level of support has not been announced yet. The Steam release of Diablo 4 will feature support for Steam achievements, Steam friends lists, and other platform features.
Previously exclusive to Blizzard’s Battle.net store, the decision to bring Diablo 4 to Steam reflects Blizzard’s plans to make their games more accessible and meet players around the world where they are. It is hoped that player feedback on the Steam version of Diablo 4 will be more positive compared to the mixed responses received for Overwatch 2.
