iRacing, a popular racing simulation game, has acquired the license to produce NASCAR console games from Motorsport Games. This transfer of the license brings the control of NASCAR’s console game properties under iRacing, which has already controlled the series’ PC gaming property for over a decade. Motorsport Games had failed to produce a NASCAR console video game since October 2021, and the content from the 2022 season was only released as an add-on to the most recent NASCAR console video game, NASCAR 21: Ignition. This acquisition gives iRacing the opportunity to fulfill their dream of creating a simulation-style NASCAR console game.
iRacing President Tony Gardner expressed excitement about the opportunity to build a NASCAR console game and promised to execute it with utmost care. They plan to collaborate closely with NASCAR industry stakeholders to create a product that offers an amazing experience for the gaming community and NASCAR fans worldwide. iRacing’s strong partnership with NASCAR in the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series has made them an ideal candidate for taking over the license. NASCAR’s Managing Director of Esports and Gaming, Nick Rend, thanked Motorsport Games for their past efforts and expressed enthusiasm about working with iRacing to deliver a top-notch simulation-style NASCAR console game that connects fans with the sport in a meaningful way.
It’s worth noting that while iRacing now has the license for NASCAR console games, Motorsport Games still retains the rights for video games based on the NTT IndyCar Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This acquisition marks a significant step forward for iRacing and NASCAR, providing a promising future for NASCAR video game enthusiasts.
