Amazon has announced the permanent closure of Amazon Chime, its alternative to platforms like Zoom and Google Meet. The company confirmed on Wednesday that support for Chime, including its Business Calling features, will conclude on February 20, 2026.

In preparation for this transition, Amazon ceased accepting new registrations for Chime accounts as of February 19, 2025.

Until the termination date, existing Chime users will retain the ability to schedule and host meetings, manage users, and utilize features provided in the Amazon Chime administration console, according to a company blog post. Notably, the Amazon Chime SDK will not be affected by this shutdown.

Amazon advises customers to delete their data before the service ends and to consider migrating to other web meeting platforms. Some recommended alternatives include AWS Wickr, Zoom, and Salesforce’s Slack.

The impending shutdown was first reported by Business Insider, which highlighted that Amazon plans to adopt Zoom as its official meeting application moving forward.

Launched in 2017 with a particular focus on business use, Amazon Chime experienced limited adoption beyond Amazon itself. This was a significant factor contributing to the decision to discontinue the service, according to an Amazon spokesperson.
