The Xbox exclusive game “Redfall” has seen a significant decline in the number of concurrent players three months after its release. According to PCGamesN, the player count has dropped to single digits at times, making it impossible to fill a four-player co-op lobby. The game debuted with 6,124 concurrent players on Steam on its first day but quickly dwindled below 100 by June. The situation has become even more concerning as the game hit a single-figure player count every day for the last week of September and the first week of October. Despite being available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, where most players access the game, this decline is a harsh assessment for Bethesda, the game’s developer.

Bethesda has acknowledged the decline and is working on improvements for “Redfall.” In an attempt to revive interest, the company released a promised 60fps patch and made changes to the game’s combat and gameplay. These changes have resulted in a slight increase in player numbers, reaching the mid-double digits. However, the overall trajectory of the game’s concurrent players remains concerning. Despite Bethesda’s commitment to continue working on the game, the low player count reflects poorly on the quality and reception of “Redfall.”

It’s important to note that the decline in player numbers is primarily seen on Steam, while the game is also available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC. This suggests that a majority of players may be accessing the game through the subscription service rather than purchasing it individually on Steam. Nevertheless, the consistent decline in player count on Steam highlights the challenges “Redfall” is currently facing in maintaining an active player base. The developers will need to address these issues and make substantial updates to attract more players and improve the game’s overall performance and appeal.
