The opening day of Star Wars Celebration Japan generated excitement beyond just movies, TV shows, and collectibles. Gamers also had their moment with the release of a reveal trailer for “A Pirate’s Fortune,” the second DLC story pack for Ubisoft’s action-adventure game, “Star Wars Outlaws.”
The trailer introduces Kay Vess, the game’s promising smuggler and scoundrel, alongside her companion, Nix, as they find themselves landing behind bars in a jail cell. Although starting off rough, grand adventures often begin in the most unexpected places.
Kay soon finds fortune aligning with her as she forms an alliance with a pirate named Hondo Ohnaka, who admits to being temporarily without a crew. Their mission is to discover a hidden treasure within a tomb located in the Khepi system. However, the journey is not straightforward—they must confront Stinger Tash and her ruthless Rokana Raiders.
Ubisoft’s official website states that “A Pirate’s Fortune” goes beyond offering a new adventure with Kay. It introduces a new set of cosmetic items inspired by the Disney+ series, “Skeleton Crew.” While engaging in the campaign, the story pack adds an update allowing players to collect items like a unique outfit for Nix, a trophy for Kay’s speeder, and a trinket for both her speeder and her ship, the Trailblazer. Players can also earn rewards by undertaking dangerous smuggling missions across the galaxy through the Miyuki Trade League.
The announcement of “Star Wars Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune” included another major reveal—the release date for the Nintendo Switch 2. Although not part of the console’s launch lineup on June 5, Ubisoft has confirmed the game’s availability a few months later, on September 4.
This information is relevant for the console’s new pre-order date, especially for those who have not yet experienced the game on Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC. Gamers using other consoles can anticipate “A Pirate’s Fortune” launching on May 15.
According to io9’s review of “Outlaws,” the game is praised for setting a high standard for “Star Wars” games, delivering an experience with a touch of endearing bluster. The review highlights that a cheeky approach and adaptability can lead to success on the galaxy’s edge.
