During the interview, ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos questioned Governor Shapiro on whether the attack should be regarded as a hate crime, highlighting that even Senate Minority Leader had commented on the incident. Despite the pressing, Governor Shapiro maintained that it is within the purview of the prosecutors to decide on the matter.
