Over the years, a significant concern among Airbnb users has been the inability to immediately discern the total cost of their stay, including additional fees such as cleaning charges. Airbnb is addressing this issue by automatically displaying the complete cost for a given property, inclusive of all fees.
Globally, users will now view prices before taxes as the default setting when searching for properties. During a web search for accommodations, Airbnb will prominently display a label indicating, “Prices include all fees.”
Airbnb initially commenced testing this feature in 2019 in select countries across Europe, as well as in Australia, Canada, and Korea. In 2022, the company launched an optional toggle in the United States and 200 other countries, allowing users to display prices before taxes in search results.
In 2023, the scope of the toggle was broadened to include price filters, maps, and listing pages. Airbnb reported that 17 million users have utilized this feature since its introduction.
Additionally, Airbnb is introducing a tool that enables hosts to view and compare properties similar to theirs, along with their pricing. Hosts will be informed about the amount guests are paying before taxes, aiding them in adjusting their pricing strategies.
