On Tuesday, Meta is hosting LlamaCon, its inaugural AI developer event, focusing on the company’s Llama family of open AI models. The event is expected to feature significant updates for developers, including keynotes from Meta executives and discussions with prominent tech CEOs, including Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

Meta is welcoming a select group of developers and journalists to its headquarters in Menlo Park, California. Additionally, the company will livestream the main keynotes and discussions for a global audience on the Meta for Developers Facebook Page and the Meta Developers YouTube channel.

LlamaCon will commence at 10:15 a.m. Pacific Time with a keynote speech by Meta’s Chief Product Officer Chris Cox, Vice President of AI Manohar Paluri, and Generative AI Research Scientist Angela Fan.

At 10:45 a.m., Zuckerberg will engage in a fireside chat with Databricks Co-founder and CEO Ali Ghodsi, focusing on open-source AI and AI-powered applications. Meta has an investment connection with Databricks, having backed the data-focused AI startup as a strategic advisor earlier this year.

Later in the day, at 4 p.m., Zuckerberg will hold another discussion with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. They will examine the latest trends in AI and provide guidance to developers on staying competitive in the rapidly evolving AI field.

The stakes are high for Meta at LlamaCon, following the recent launch of Llama 4, a new generation of AI models that received a lukewarm reception from developers. These models did not perform as well as those from competitors such as DeepSeek, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google in certain benchmarks.

Following the launch, Meta faced allegations regarding its performance results on the crowdsourced AI benchmark, LM Arena. The company was accused of using an optimized version of its Llama 4 Maverick model to achieve high scores, while releasing a different version to the public.

Through LlamaCon, Meta aims to rebuild its reputation among developers, seeking to improve its standing within the community.
