Sony has quietly increased the price of the PS5 Digital Edition in the United States as part of its smaller, slimmer relaunch. The non-Blu-ray unit will now be priced at $449.99, a $50 increase from its previous cost of $399.99. Meanwhile, the price of the Blu-ray model remains unchanged at $499.99. To further complicate matters, buyers will also have to pay an additional $79.99 for a standalone vertical stand. Overall, this price hike makes the Digital Edition more expensive to purchase starting in November.

While the increase in price may be off-putting to potential buyers, there is a cost-saving option available. Purchasing the Blu-ray model bundled with the standalone disc drive will actually save buyers $20 compared to buying the Digital Edition and disc drive separately. However, the pricing structure can be confusing when considering different currencies. Despite the price increase, Sony is expecting customers to embrace the new model, but it remains to be seen how gamers will respond to the stealthy price hike.

In conclusion, Sony is raising the price of the PS5 Digital Edition in the United States to $449.99, making it more expensive than the Blu-ray model. The company has also introduced a standalone vertical stand priced at $79.99, further adding to the cost of the Digital Edition. However, buyers can save $20 by purchasing the Blu-ray model bundled with the disc drive. The price increase has raised concerns among potential buyers, but Sony remains confident in the relaunch of the slimmer PS5.
