A man in Florida is suing Dunkin’ for over $50,000 in damages after claiming that a toilet in the store exploded and covered him in feces and urine. Paul Kerouac suffered “severe and long-term injuries” when the incident occurred in 2022. Both he and the interior of the restroom were covered with debris, causing him significant trauma.
Following the incident, Kerouac sought help from the staff at the Dunkin’ store and was informed that they were aware of the “problem with the toilet” as prior incidents had occurred. As a result, Kerouac is now seeking more than $50,000 in damages, citing emotional and bodily injury, psychological damages, mental anguish, and the expense of medical care and treatment. Dunkin’ has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
The incident is particularly shocking given Dunkin’s rebranding effort in 2019 to transform the brand into a “beverage-led, on-the-go brand.” The company did not immediately respond to the request for comment made by Business Insider.
