Actress Claire Danes has finalized the sale of her residence in Manhattan’s West Village. The property was sold for $9.9 million, with Tamer Howard from the Corcoran Group handling the listing. Danes and her husband, Hugh Dancy, originally acquired the townhouse in 2012 for $6.8 million. Having been listed on the market in August 2024, the transaction was completed in late March 2025.
The townhouse, built in 1910, is situated where West Village meets SoHo and Greenwich Village, offering convenient access to various popular New York City attractions. The residence spans 3,890 square feet, including four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms distributed over four levels. The primary bedroom commands the entire fourth floor.
Exteriorly, the building presents a tall brick structure with a brown metal facade and a prominent bright red front door, somewhat obscured by trees. Upon entry, visitors pass through a foyer that doubles as a mudroom, complete with a small closet and a powder room. An office space is accessible from this area, separated by sliding doors for privacy, with a staircase leading to the upper floors positioned nearby.
The main living area, featuring 11-foot ceilings and a wood-burning fireplace, is furnished with an orange couch, a glass coffee table, and two armchairs, while a formal dining area is integrated via an open floor plan. Adjacent is the all-white kitchen, equipped with high-end appliances such as a double oven, large stovetop, and refrigerator concealed within cabinets. Noteworthy features include heated floors, electric blinds, a skylight, and an outdoor terrace accessible through glass doors.
The second level houses another living space with a second wood-burning fireplace and built-in bookshelves, one incorporating a wet bar with a mini-fridge and dishwasher. The area opens to an outdoor lounge space. This floor also includes the first of four bedrooms, complete with a fireplace, walk-in closet, and en suite bathroom.
The third level contains two additional bedrooms, one configured with twin beds, bookshelves, and children’s toys, while the other features another fireplace and a study area. The entire fourth level is dedicated to the primary bedroom, offering natural light from its windows, hardwood flooring, and a large en suite bathroom with a soaking tub, stand-alone shower, and a fireplace.
Additional amenities include a spacious rooftop terrace equipped with an outdoor kitchen, dining area, fridge, pizza oven, and ice maker, enhancing the property’s entertainment capabilities.
