Disneyland in Anaheim, California, is set to debut its new ride, replacing the previous Splash Mountain attraction, on November 15, just before Thanksgiving. The new attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, was announced by Disney Parks Blog and follows a similar update that occurred at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in June. Disneyland has also provided a “planning tips” guide for visitors planning to experience the ride.

The attraction, located in Critter Country, is a water thrill ride featuring “big drops” designed for riders 40 inches or taller. Both Disneyland and Disney World have replaced the past Splash Mountain ride, which faced criticism due to its association with the 1946 animated film “Song of the South,” criticized for its portrayal of post-Civil War Southern stereotypes.

Inspired by the 2009 animated film “The Princess and the Frog,” Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be accessible through a “complimentary virtual queue” on the Disneyland app. The virtual queue will open to visitors at two time slots during the day, 7 a.m. and noon Pacific time, with no standby line available initially. Lightning Lane Multi Pass will provide quicker entry, depending on availability.

In response to guest demand, Disney launched a pilot program for Lightning Lane Premier Pass at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, allowing visitors to bypass regular queues for additional costs. This new program started on October 23 at Disneyland Resort and on October 30 at Walt Disney World. The existing Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass options remain unchanged in U.S. parks.
