Kevin O’Leary, chairman of O’Leary Ventures, commented on former President Trump’s suggestion that Elon Musk could serve as the “secretary of cost-cutting.” Musk, now a significant donor to the Republican Party, announced through his political action committee (America PAC) that a $1 million prize would be awarded daily to a new individual who signs their petition up until Election Day.

During a town hall in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Musk highlighted his intent to gather widespread support for the petition, which advocates for the First and Second Amendments. In his address, Musk revealed the monetary incentive as a means to encourage participation. The petition states: “The First and Second Amendments guarantee freedom of speech and the right to bear arms. By signing below, I am pledging my support for the First and Second Amendments.”

On the first day of this incentive, John Dreher, who expressed admiration for Musk’s work, was awarded the initial $1 million. Dreher, a long-time follower of Musk, was encouraged by Musk to continue supporting the petition’s cause.

Musk has been actively traveling across Pennsylvania, underscoring the importance of the state in the 2024 election. Recent filings from the Federal Elections Commission indicate that Musk is the sole financer of the America PAC, contributing approximately $75 million between July and September. During this timeframe, the PAC spent around $72 million.

Musk’s endorsement of Trump this summer followed a reported assassination attempt on the former president in July. America PAC aims to secure signatures from one million voters in Pennsylvania and other pivotal states, including Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina, supporting the First and Second Amendments by October 21.

In addition to his roles as CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Musk is also the major owner of the social media platform X. His substantial financial contributions to America PAC position him alongside other prominent Republican donors such as Timothy Mellon and Miriam Adelson.
