A refrigerated dip is currently under recall by its manufacturer due to the possibility of mold growth, as per federal authorities. Lunds & Byerlys has announced the recall, which the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) publicized on Friday. The recall involves the company’s Lone Star Dip product.
Approximately 500 containers are affected by this recall due to potential mold growth contamination, according to the FDA’s statement. The Minnesota-based company has specifically targeted the recall for Lone Star Dip items sold in the Twin Cities and their surrounding areas.
The recalled products are 12-ounce containers with a UPC of 18169-74197, and best-by dates of October 15 or 17.
As of the latest update, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. The issue was initially identified by store employees who then informed the company’s Quality Assurance team.
Consumers are advised to either discard the recalled dips or return them for a refund. The company stated that customers who recently purchased the affected product are encouraged to return it to any Lunds & Byerlys location for a full refund without the need for a receipt, or to dispose of the product immediately.
According to the Lunds & Byerlys website, the Lone Star Dip is prepared with cream cheese, salsa, tarragon, and fresh lemon juice, and is described as pairing well with sandwiches, wraps, or the company’s tortilla chips.
Customers with inquiries are encouraged to contact the company at 952-548-1400 for further assistance. FOX Business has attempted to reach Lunds & Byerlys for additional comments but has not yet received a response.
