Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her concern and described the disappearance of a 9-year-old girl from Moreau Lake State Park in New York as “every parent’s nightmare.” The girl, Charlotte Sena, went missing on Saturday night, and the State Police issued an AMBER Alert, suspecting that she may have been abducted. The search effort for Charlotte is ongoing, with a massive operation being carried out near Saratoga Springs to locate her. The girl’s family is pleading for assistance from the public, describing Charlotte as a sweet and adorable girl with distinctive features.
Governor Hochul met with the missing girl’s family and offered her support, acknowledging the pain they must be going through. The governor’s demeanor reflected the seriousness of the situation, as Charlotte’s safety is of utmost concern. The girl vanished from a camping area at Moreau Lake State Park after deciding to take one more loop on her bike alone. The search, which involved the use of dogs, drones, and boats, lasted several hours. Lt. Col. Richard Mazzone expressed fears of an abduction after the extensive search efforts were unsuccessful, mentioning that specialized technology is being utilized to identify potential witnesses.
The family and others camping at the park searched for Charlotte for about 30 minutes before contacting the authorities. Police discovered her bicycle, adding to the growing concerns surrounding her disappearance. With Charlotte being a fourth-grader and recently elected to the student council, the governor reassured that the state police will spare no effort in finding her and reuniting her with her family. The investigation includes analyzing other forms of communication and utilizing technological resources in the park at the time of her disappearance.
