A man, identified as Donnell Tinsley, was arrested near the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee for carrying a concealed AK-47 pistol without a permit. The federal agent who stopped Tinsley noticed him walking outside the vehicle screening perimeter of the convention wearing a ski mask and black gloves, carrying a heavy backpack. During a search of his backpack, the agent found the AK-47 pistol, a fully loaded magazine, a “Scream” movie mask, black gloves, spray paint, and other items.

Tinsley admitted to not having a permit to carry concealed weapons, leading to his arrest by federal law enforcement officers. Court records indicate that Tinsley appeared in court on Wednesday, although information about his attorney was not yet available. This arrest occurred amidst heightened security after the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania and a separate fatal police shooting near the convention center in Milwaukee. In total, at least nine individuals have been arrested since the start of the convention for various offenses.

The security presence at the Republican National Convention remains vigilant following these incidents, with multiple arrests made for disorderly conduct, carrying concealed weapons, trespassing, and other offenses. The situation is concerning, especially with high-profile figures like Trump in attendance as the current Republican presidential nominee. The details of Tinsley’s case and the circumstances surrounding his possession of the AK-47 pistol raise questions about safety and security protocols during such events.
