Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred on I-4 Eastbound in Osceola County early Saturday morning. The collision took place at around 4:18 a.m. near mile marker 59, resulting in the closure of the eastbound lanes of I-4 prior to exit 60. The incident involved a 2015 Subaru WRX, a 2006 Kia Sportage, and a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The driver of the Subaru failed to notice the Kia in front of them and collided with its rear, causing the Subaru to veer off the road and crash into a guardrail. As a consequence, the Kia spun and blocked both the center and outside lanes. Subsequently, the Jeep crashed into the disabled Kia, hitting its left side, and causing further impact with the center guardrail. Tragically, the 65-year-old female driver of the Kia was pronounced dead after being transported to Celebration Hospital. Another passenger, a 38-year-old female in the Jeep, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center.
Fortunately, the drivers of both the Subaru and the Jeep suffered relatively minor injuries, with the former being left unscathed. The eastbound lanes of I-4 were able to reopen in the area by 11 a.m. on Saturday.
