A tragic incident occurred in Boulder Creek on Sunday when a person was killed by a falling tree while inside their home. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that at around 3:20 p.m., fire crews responded to a home on Highway 9 near the intersection of Bear Creek Road for a tree that had fallen into the residence. One resident was able to escape, but unfortunately, the other was trapped and ultimately killed by the fallen tree. The victim was identified as 45-year-old Robert Brainard III of Boulder Creek, according to the Santa Cruz County Coroner’s Office.
