Two mothers are facing serious charges after being accused of packing eight children into a car that was only designed to carry five passengers, which later crashed in Wolcott. Jamie Madore was driving the Ford Focus on August 18th when she swerved over the double yellow line and lost control of the vehicle. Six of the children in the car belonged to Elezebeth Farina, who was in the passenger seat, and two of them belonged to Madore. Tragically, one of the children, a 10-year-old boy, was thrown from the vehicle and seriously injured during the crash.
The police chief, Edward Stephens, expressed the severity of the situation, noting that the accident could have been even more catastrophic. Good Samaritans stopped to help the children after the crash, but the result was nonetheless tragic. Both Madore and Farina, who are out on bond, are facing numerous charges related to the incident, including reckless driving and risk of injury to a minor. Despite the seriousness of the situation, both cases have been continued to January, with the possibility of Madore’s case being moved to Part A Court for more serious offenses.
