33-year-old John Madore shot and killed Bradley Haas, a security officer for New Hampshire Hospital Friday. Madore was then also shot and killed by a state trooper who responded quickly to the shooting. Autopsy results for both men revealed that they both died of multiple gunshot wounds. The call center for families of patients at New Hampshire Hospital has been established by the state Department of Health and Human Services.
Investigators are looking into whether Madore had any connections to New Hampshire Hospital or Haas. Madore did not get past the metal detectors at the hospital, and police are continuing to investigate a U-Haul truck that was found running in the parking lot after the shooting. No motive for the attack has been released, and no patients at the hospital were injured.
The quick response by the state trooper and hospital workers likely prevented the situation from escalating further, officials said. Gov. Chris Sununu expressed condolences for the family of Bradley Haas, who had protected the patients and staff at New Hampshire Hospital. New Hampshire Hospital, where the attack took place, is a secure inpatient psychiatric hospital with 184 staffed beds.
