The Omaha area is bracing for a winter storm that is expected to bring heavy snow and travel impacts throughout the day Monday and into Tuesday morning. Most of eastern Nebraska, including Omaha, could see 5 to 10 inches of heavy, wet snow, with the higher end metro snow totals likely on the west side of the city. Western Iowa could see 4 to 8 inches of snow. The storm is expected to impact travel along Interstate 80 and Interstate 29, with the north wind ramping up to gust 40+ mph by Tuesday morning, leading to blowing/drifting snow and hazardous driving conditions.

The timeline for the winter storm and snowfall is as follows: Widespread wet snow is expected at 1 p.m., followed by wet snow, heavy at times at 3 p.m. Wet snow is then expected to continue, heavy at times at 6 p.m., and at 9 p.m. more wet snow, heavy at times is expected to continue overnight. To track the weather, an interactive radar is available for residents to stay informed about the evolving conditions. Additionally, local weather from KETV is available for streaming on Very Local.

Residents are urged to stay informed about road conditions, flight delays, and potential closings due to the winter weather. With hazardous driving conditions expected, it is important for individuals to take the necessary precautions and stay updated on the evolving situation.
