A tragic small plane crash took the life of a pilot after the aircraft spiraled into a shopping center parking lot near Dallas, Texas. The incident took place just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday outside a nail salon and Mama’s Daughter’s Diner in Plano. Unfortunately, the pilot was the only person on board and lost their life in the crash.
Thankfully, there were no other injuries or damage to buildings, but footage shared on social media showed a large fire from the plane crash. Witnesses reported that in the moments before the crash, the pilot appeared to be disoriented. Authorities have indicated that the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Travel Safety Board are investigating the incident, which happened less than half a mile from the Airpark-Dallas Airport. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
Officials from Plano Fire-Rescue have stated that while the plane did not collide with anything during the crash, the resulting fire did involve an unoccupied parked vehicle.
