Many Colorado school districts will have a snow day on Tuesday due to the dangerously cold temperatures and wind chill predicted by the National Weather Service. Some of the largest school districts in the state, including Denver Public Schools, Jeffco Public Schools, Aurora Public Schools, and Cherry Creek School District, will be closed. Additionally, most Northern Colorado districts will also have the day off. Westminster’s school administrators announced their closure early, citing the need for families to make child care arrangements. Jeffco Public Schools also made their announcement early, stating that the sustained low temperatures required time to assess district facilities and prepare them to safely serve students.

The arctic cold front affecting Colorado isn’t expected to move out until sometime on Tuesday. More snow continued to fall on Monday during the day, adding to the hazardous weather conditions. The decision to close schools was made to prioritize the safety of students and staff. Students in the affected districts will have to stay home on Tuesday while families make arrangements to ensure their well-being.

It’s important to note that even though some schools will remain open on Tuesday, they will have a delayed start to allow for safer travel conditions. Denver Public Schools confirmed that they will be closed district-wide on Tuesday, ensuring that the well-being of students is their top priority during this extreme weather event.
