The Senate voted early Friday morning to confirm President Trump’s nominee, retired Lt. Gen. Dan Caine, as the new chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The confirmation passed with a 60 to 25 vote. The process faced delays due to opposition from Democrats, spearheaded by Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who protested against Trump’s decision to dismiss the previous top official on February 21.
