A snowstorm is set to hit New England and end the region’s drought, as it is expected to bring wintry weather to Boston and much of central Massachusetts. The storm is coming from Southern California and the western United States, providing relief for New Englanders who have been without significant snow for nearly two years. Cities such as Leominster, Rutland, and Gardner can expect up to eight inches of snow, while others, like Foxborough and Sturbridge, could see three to five inches. The snowfall is predicted to taper into rain along the coast and eastern Massachusetts, as temperatures in coastal areas remain above freezing.

Boston has not had significant snowfall since February 25, 2022. Last year ended as the one of the city’s least-snowiest years on record. This forecast is not yet set in stone, but accurate information is being offered so that residents can better plan and make decisions. This storm could be the end of the city’s snow drought, and the amounts of snowfall are expected to vary across the region, ranging from as little as one inch to as much as eight inches. Additional snow and slush tips are available for those who can expect the storm’s imminent arrival. Overall, most New Englanders are hopeful for significant snowfall after such a long absence.
