Nine-year-old Charlotte Sena of Saratoga County has gone missing during a family camping trip at Moreau State Park. Charlotte was last seen on Saturday evening after going for a bike ride with friends. When she didn’t return after about 10 minutes, her parents began searching for her. The search for Charlotte is being led by the state Department of Environmental Conservation, with approximately 400 search and rescue personnel actively searching the area. The investigation into her disappearance is classified as a missing child, although an Amber Alert has been issued stating that she may have been abducted. Charlotte’s family and the community are desperately seeking any information that may aid in her safe return.
Charlotte’s aunt, Jené Sena, took to TikTok to ask for any information or tips that the public may have about Charlotte’s disappearance. She thanked everyone for their support and asked for continued prayers for her niece. The Mount Zion Church is also holding a prayer gathering for Charlotte’s safe return, showing the community’s united front in hoping for her safe return. Meanwhile, police presence has extended beyond the state park, with troopers seen patrolling Charlotte’s family’s home and boat launches in the village of Corinth being closed. A vigil was also held on the banks of the Hudson River in Corinth, where community members gathered to show their support for Charlotte and her family.
Officials have urged the public to stay away from Moreau State Park and leave the searching to the professionals. The family is said to be devastated by Charlotte’s disappearance, and extra counselors have been provided at Corinth Central School District, where Charlotte attends fourth grade, to support students during this difficult time. Charlotte’s mother described her as a “good kid” who is trusting. The search efforts include over 100 searchers, bloodhounds, drones, and a helicopter. Although the investigation remains classified as a missing child, an Amber Alert has been issued, suggesting a possible abduction.
