The FDA has authorized at-home Antigen Covid tests to be taken multiple times over a period of days to ensure accurate results. If you test negative but are experiencing symptoms or have been to a gathering with several people, it is recommended to test at least three times over a five-day period. This is because the sample may have been collected too early in the infection to show a positive result. If you test positive, it is advised to take another test to verify the result. If both tests come back positive, you should quarantine for at least five days and wear a mask around others for an additional five days.

To assist in at-home testing, there are several rapid Antigen tests available. The Abbott BinaxNow kit provides results within 15 minutes and offers a companion app for self-reporting. The QuickVue test involves swirling the swab in a solution and dipping the test strip for 10 minutes. The On/Go kit from Intrivo Diagnostics comes with a connected app that guides you through the testing process and provides simple steps for ease of use. The InteliSwab test requires a longer wait time but is unique in its design with a flat pad attached to the result window. Finally, the FlowFlex test allows for repeat testing with one test per box, recommending additional testing if symptoms persist or new symptoms arise.

Overall, it is important to follow the FDA’s guidelines for at-home testing to ensure accurate results and take appropriate measures such as quarantine and seeking medical attention if necessary. The availability of various at-home tests provides options for testing convenience, but it is vital to use them correctly and follow the instructions provided.
