Microsoft has announced that OpenAI’s latest DALL-E 3 model is now available to all Bing Chat and Bing Image Creator users. This upgrade has been rolling out gradually, first to Bing Enterprise users and then to Bing Image Creator, but is now open to everyone. Bing has received access to DALL-E 3 before OpenAI’s own ChatGPT, which will be available only to paying users starting this month. With this new integration, Bing is likely to become the most popular image generating tool.
DALL-E 3 is the third version of OpenAI’s image generating model and offers improved understanding of prompts, resulting in more creative and photorealistic images. This upgrade also focuses on enhancing user experience by integrating DALL-E 3 into Bing Chat and ChatGPT, allowing users to create and refine images through conversation with a chatbot. OpenAI has also incorporated safety measures into DALL-E 3, ensuring that it does not generate images of public figures or produce hateful or NSFW content. Microsoft has added watermarks to AI-generated images and developed its own content moderation system within Bing Image Creator.
Microsoft has plans to use DALL-E technology beyond Bing as well. It is working on integrating the DALL-E model into the Paint app called Paint Cocreator in Windows 11. Although theoretically available to anyone through Bing, the servers have been overloaded, resulting in processing issues. Despite this, the image generator in Bing Chat offers suggestions and allows users to create images collaboratively.
