Factories are currently gaining significant attention in the defense technology sector. Earlier this year, Anduril announced a billion-dollar “megafactory” in Ohio. Meanwhile, Saronic revealed plans last month for a factory focused on mass-producing autonomous warships.
Anduril is now contemplating the establishment of a factory in the U.K. as part of its strategy to move beyond U.S. defense contracts.
Rich Drake, Anduril’s general manager for the U.K. and Europe, informed Bloomberg that if sufficient orders are secured, the company intends to open a facility in the U.K.
The proposed U.K. factory is intended for drone production and research and development, with potential sites near Oxford and Cambridge, as reported by Sifted.
As European defense budgets reach unprecedented levels while the U.S. reduces its aid to Ukraine, considerable opportunities are emerging in the region.
Based in California, Anduril is reportedly in discussions to raise funds at a valuation of $28 billion. The company did not respond to requests for comment.
