Apple is internally testing iOS 17.0.3, a software update designed to address the overheating issues reported by some users of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The update is expected to be released either later this week or next week. While Apple did not provide specific details about the bug causing the overheating, the company stated that it will not reduce the performance of the A17 Pro chip with the update. Apple also confirmed that the titanium frame of the iPhone 15 Pro is not to blame for the issue, suggesting that it is not a hardware problem.

In addition to the software update, Apple revealed that some third-party apps, including Instagram, Uber, and Asphalt 9: Legends, were overloading the A17 Pro chip, exacerbating the overheating problem. Apple is working with the developers of these apps to resolve the issue. Instagram has already released an update with a fix, while Uber’s update is yet to be determined if it addresses the issue. Not all iPhone 15 Pro users have experienced overheating, and it remains unclear how many users have been affected by the issue. Nonetheless, Apple assures that a fix is on its way.

The bug fix to address the overheating issue will also be included in the upcoming iOS 17.1 update, which is currently in beta testing and is expected to be launched in late October. With the release of this update, Apple aims to resolve the reported overheating issues and improve the overall performance of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
