Fans of Apple TV+’s show “Severance” experienced a unique event over the weekend, as the Bell Works building in Holmdel, New Jersey, the same site used as Lumon Industries in the series, hosted an immersive event for a limited time. This architectural landmark transformed on April 5 into a real-life Lumon experience, seamlessly blending fiction with fandom through a museum-like exhibition. The event included curated set recreations, menus inspired by “Severance,” exclusive branded merchandise, and a highlight waffle party.
The one-weekend event was structured to reflect the show’s carefully crafted aesthetic, providing attendees with a tangible slice of its unsettling office environment. Previously a home to the renowned Bell Labs, now owned by Nokia, the Bell Works building served as more than just a backdrop for filming “Severance.” Production designer Jeremy Hindle, in an interview with CNBC Make It, commented on the space’s striking impact, describing it as a perfect match for the show’s unsettling ambiance.
Hindle further noted that Bell Labs was originally designed to be welcoming for the families of scientists and engineers, a concept that Lumon Industries mirrored, albeit misguidedly. Additionally, the event hosted a VIP gathering on Saturday night that included a Q&A session with the cast, moderated by Stephen Colbert, host of “The Late Show,” and attended by most of the show’s stars.
