During New York Comic-Con, several significant announcements were made regarding upcoming comics from major publishers. Marvel disclosed aspects of their 2025 lineup, including a storyline featuring Doctor Doom ruling Earth and the introduction of a new Ultimate Wolverine. Meanwhile, DC presented a range of upcoming stories, reintroducing fan favorites and unveiling fresh narratives.

Peacemaker Ventures into Comics
DC is expanding the Max series, Peacemaker, by releasing its first comic book spinoff, Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature!, to bridge the time until the show’s second season arrives next year. Tim Seely is set to cover Vigilante stories, while Rex Ogle and Matteo Lolli will focus on Eagly’s adventures. The plot will unfold between the show’s two seasons, showcasing Vigilante as he tackles a criminal community, suspecting harm to Peacemaker and Eagly when they are unaccounted for. Meanwhile, Eagly’s narrative occurs as the pair embark on a trip to Alaska, unknowingly targeted by supervillains. The series will consist of five issues, commencing sometime next year.

Justice League Faces Godzilla and King Kong Again
DC’s heroes are slated for a return bout with the legendary creatures in Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2, scheduled for release in 2025. Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce will return to helm the sequel, where the heroes venture into the MonsterVerse, discovering that their adversaries are attempting to weaponize Titans such as Ghidorah and Rodan. The narrative promises to deliver striking visuals of Wonder Woman or Batman riding Mothra.

Expansion of the Absolute Universe
DC is set to amplify its Absolute line. Following recent releases of Absolute Batman, Absolute Wonder Woman, and the upcoming Absolute Superman, more stories are on the horizon for 2025. Jeff Lemire and Nick Robles will bring forth Absolute Flash, featuring a young Wally West. Simultaneously, Absolute Green Lantern, by Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay, will cover an ensemble cast of Green Lanterns. Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez will present a new take with Absolute Martian Manhunter, described by Camp as a psychological horror story exploring the mind of FBI agent John Jones. Additionally, a crossover between the Absolute and prime DC universes is anticipated for next fall.

Return of Hush and Vertigo
A sequel to Batman: Hush will begin with Batman #158 in March 2025, as announced by Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb. This sequel is set to follow the 20th anniversary celebration of the iconic storyline. Meanwhile, the Vertigo imprint is making a comeback, focusing on creator-owned projects. It will relaunch with James Tynion IV and Álvaro Martinez Bueno’s The Nice House on the Lake, as well as its sequel series moving forward. Executive Editor Chris Conroy has hinted at additional announcements and archival surprises to be revealed in the coming months.

These announcements spotlight DC’s dynamic storytelling potential and its commitment to reviving beloved series and characters while introducing novel plots for readers to anticipate.
