The first beta of Android 15 is now available for Pixel devices, a month ahead of Google I/O 2024. This initial beta-quality release includes new user-facing changes such as apps targeting Android

15 being displayed edge-to-edge by default on Android 15 devices. System bars are now transparent or translucent, with content drawing behind by default. The update also introduces official OS-level support for app archiving and unarchiving, allowing for the removal of the APK and cached files while still preserving user data.

Additionally, Android 15 brings new features like the E2eeContactKeysManager for end-to-end encryption in apps, support for Braille displays using the HID standard, and improvements to prevent malicious background apps from impacting user interaction. Users can leave feedback using the Android Beta Feedback app and install the update via the Android Beta Program or through manual methods like flashing or sideloading. If updating from Android 14 Beta, specific build versions need to be followed to avoid potential bugs during installation.
