The release of Apple’s new iOS 18 update introduces notable features including Apple Intelligence, a more customizable Control Center and Home Screen, additional emoji Tapback reactions, and enhanced app security through Face ID. A particularly significant update is the ability for users to take control of another person’s screen or allow someone else to control theirs during a FaceTime call. Here is the procedure for utilizing this feature:
Step 1: Initiate a FaceTime Call
This feature operates exclusively over FaceTime, requiring that the contact is saved and the call is on a one-to-one basis. Both parties must have their devices updated to iOS 18 or a later version.
Step 2: Share the Screen
To request control of another person’s screen, first, share the screen. The individual whose screen is to be controlled must initiate the sharing process. This is done by selecting the "share" button located next to the red "x" end call button and choosing whether to share the full screen or just an app before clicking "share my screen."
Step 3: Request Control
Upon seeing the other person’s screen preview, users should tap the window for an enlarged view and click the "Request Control" icon in the bottom right. Once the recipient accepts, control over their device is granted.
Step 4: Cancel Control
To terminate remote control, simply press the "stop" button at the bottom right of the screen.
These updates offer enhanced functionality and flexibility for iPhone users, providing new ways to assist and interact with others.
