Ikea is taking a new approach to gaming furniture by introducing the Brännboll collection, which offers designs that seamlessly blend in with existing home decor rather than following the typical dark and edgy “gamer” aesthetic. The focus of this new range is on seating, featuring innovative pieces such as an armchair that transforms into a lounging position, a rocking-style chair that moves with your body, and an inflatable donut-style chair with a matching footstool.
In addition to the unique seating options, the Brännboll collection includes a versatile “gaming station” that can be folded away to resemble a wardrobe, complete with integrated PC tower storage and cable management. There is also a storage box that doubles as a side table, display shelving, and various textile accessories like a mousepad, rug, and a throw. While it may be challenging to categorize this furniture as exclusively “gaming,” Ikea’s inspiration for the collection stems from street sports and athleisure, featuring a mix of neutrals and bright colors that seamlessly integrate into modern homes.
According to Ikea product design developer Philip Dilé, the Brännboll collection aims to make gaming accessible to everyone and fitting for any space within the home. While the initial press images feature children, Dilé confirmed that the range is age-inclusive and suitable for adults as well. Although pricing details are not yet available, more information about the Brännboll collection is expected to be released before its official launch in September.
