The upcoming movie will depict the events that occurred prior to, during, and after the implosion of the Titanic exploration submersible, according to Deadline. The Titan had embarked on a voyage to survey the wreckage of the Titanic in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean in June. Sadly, the submersible lost communication with the surface, and it was later discovered that it had suffered a devastating implosion during descent, resulting in the tragic death of all five passengers on board, including OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush.
Justin MacGregor and Jonathan Keasey from MindRiot will collaborate on writing the film. Keasey expresses in a statement to Deadline that the movie will not only pay tribute to those involved in the submersible tragedy and their families but will also serve as a platform to discuss broader concerns regarding the nature of media today.
In addition to the movie, MindRiot is also developing a docuseries titled “Salvaged” that revolves around the life of former OceanGate mission director Kyle Bingham. The docuseries will shed light on Bingham’s countless dives aboard the submersible, providing an in-depth exploration of his experiences and the challenges he faced.
