Insta360 has unveiled two new versions of its Link webcam, featuring more compact designs and enhanced automated tracking capabilities optimized for presentations or live streaming. The Link 2, priced at $199, retains the innovative two-axis gimbal of the original model while offering improved noise reduction. Conversely, the Link 2C, priced at $149, does not include such mobility features.
Both webcams are equipped with a new magnetic mount for easier attachment to various surfaces and are significantly more affordable than the original Insta360 Link, which was released in 2022 at $299.99.
Both the Link 2 and Link 2C utilize the same half-inch sensor as the original model, paired with a 26-millimeter equivalent f1.8 lens. The webcams support video capture up to 4K at 30fps and provide 1080P resolution options to increase frame rates to 60fps.
Insta360 claims that both cameras have significantly enhanced their ability to filter out unwanted noise, such as keyboard sounds, traffic, or ambient café noise. Users can choose from three sound profiles: one that prioritizes voices, another optimized for music, and a third, more general option.
The new Link 2 and Link 2C maintain the same auto-tracking and framing features as the original but add new functionalities such as a group tracking option to keep multiple presenters in frame and expanded hand gestures for controlling zoom and other webcam features without approaching the computer.
A new “Smart Whiteboard Mode” can automatically detect a whiteboard and keep it in frame for better visibility during calls. Previously, users had to apply stickers to the corners of the whiteboard for the original Link to focus on it. Additionally, Insta360 introduces “Pause-Track Areas” that allow users to designate zones where the webcam should not follow people. This feature enables presenters to step out of frame while keeping the focus on a specific area or hiding sensitive information.
