Last year, Insomniac Games released Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The game was well-received, leaving several unresolved storylines that seemed to set the stage for potential downloadable content (DLC). However, no follow-up is planned at this time.

During the Marvel Games panel at New York Comic-Con, it was revealed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would be available on PC on January 30, 2025, with no post-launch content anticipated. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, senior community manager Jason Espinoza confirmed that Insomniac has no further story content planned. This decision surprised many, especially considering Insomniac’s previous Spider-Man game featured three post-launch story packs focusing on characters like Black Cat and Yuri Watanabe, and laid the groundwork for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Expectations for additional content for this game were therefore not unfounded.

Another reason for players’ surprise was the leak associated with last year’s Insomniac hack. The hack led to widespread speculation about a potential story expansion for Spider-Man 2, or a standalone follow-up similar to Miles Morales. These rumors persisted despite a lack of any formal indication from Insomniac. The recent PlayStation Blog post effectively puts these rumors to rest, suggesting Insomniac has shifted its focus entirely to Marvel’s Wolverine. Insomniac noted soon after the hack that more information regarding Wolverine would be shared when appropriate.

As Insomniac concentrates on Wolverine until its release, fans of the Spider-Man universe will have to wait for any new developments. The timing of any future announcements will be determined by Insomniac and PlayStation.
