Reeves, in a recent interview with Collider, sought to alleviate these worries. He reassured audiences that the Batman saga he envisioned will proceed as planned, adhering closely to the intended path. The most significant deviation thus far has been the expansion of the storyline revolving around The Penguin. Originally intended as an introduction to “Part II,” the narrative of Oswald’s ascent evolved into an independent project. This shift partially stemmed from the desire to extend Reeves’ vision beyond theatrical releases.
Reeves recounted a conversation with HBO’s Chief Content Officer, Casey Bloys, who emphasized the importance of featuring major characters in the series instead of reserving all key developments for theaters. Reeves chose The Penguin because, in the first film, the character is portrayed as a mid-level figure who has not yet become the notorious kingpin known in the Batman lore. This portrayal was intentional, as Reeves aimed to explore the origin stories of characters other than Batman.
Although Reeves remained discreet about which other characters might be explored, a recent roundtable discussion covered by The Direct provided a glimpse. Producer Dylan Clark mentioned another spinoff in development, distinct from the Arkham Asylum series shelved in July. When asked about the possibility of a legal drama starring Harvey Dent, Reeves indicated that the concept was in line with ongoing discussions.
