NetherRealm Studios has released the 0.122 patch for Mortal Kombat 1, addressing the Player 1 advantage bug that gave an unfair advantage to Player 1 during online matches. The bug caused Player 2 to have a bigger hurtbox and deal less damage, while Player 1 could execute combo attacks that Player 2 couldn’t. The patch also includes character-specific balancing adjustments, such as allowing players to high-parry Kung Lao’s Knee Buckle attack but not Raiden’s Electric Fly moves. The update, which was initially scheduled for late September, is now available for download.

In addition to fixing the Player 1 advantage bug, the 0.122 patch introduces several fighter-specific adjustments to improve gameplay balance. These adjustments focus on special moves and their effectiveness against an opponent’s parry attempts. For example, certain attacks that could be high-parried before now cannot be, and vice versa. The patch notes also mention other general gameplay adjustments, including move list corrections and localization fixes. Some character-specific adjustments were made as well, fixing issues with certain attacks passing through opponents or being unbreakable.

For players of Mortal Kombat 1, this patch is a long-awaited fix to the Player 1 advantage bug that plagued online matches. With the bug resolved, both players will have an equal and fair playing field. The balancing adjustments for specific characters also ensure that gameplay remains consistent and strategic. The release of the 0.122 patch demonstrates NetherRealm Studios’ commitment to listening to player feedback and continuously improving the gaming experience for Mortal Kombat 1 players.
