Bungie is reportedly entering the mobile gaming market with a new mobile sci-fi RPG shooter titled Destiny: Rising, which will be available on both Android and iOS platforms. This spinoff is being developed by NetEase Games, the same company known for creating the free-to-play game Diablo: Immortal. Destiny: Rising will also be offered for free download and play upon its release.

Destiny: Rising is set in a separate timeline from Destiny and Destiny 2, although NetEase assures players that they will encounter both familiar and new characters. The storyline takes place after the Dark Age, allowing players to explore Earth following "The Collapse" and observe humanity’s efforts to rebuild civilization.

In addition to a first-person perspective, NetEase Games is incorporating a new third-person viewpoint which was previously limited to specific weapons and equipment. The game will also support smartphone-compatible controllers for players who choose to use them.

As a spinoff of Destiny 2, Destiny: Rising will feature both PvE and PvP modes, offering a mix of familiar and new experiences. Players will have the opportunity to form clans and make friends to either collaborate or compete in various challenges.

Given that NetEase Games is responsible for developing and publishing Destiny: Rising, the game is expected to include numerous microtransactions. However, detailed information on this aspect is currently unavailable. Past experiences with games like Diablo: Immortal suggest that these concerns may be justified.

Notably, Bungie recently laid off 220 employees in August, despite the success of its latest expansion, The Final Shape. Additionally, the company released a roadmap outlining its future plans following these layoffs.

NetEase Games has initiated sign-ups for a closed alpha test scheduled for next month. Those interested can visit the official website for more information. However, an official release date for the game has not yet been announced.
